Viagra Thief Captured
Posted: Tuesday, 6 April, 2010 | Categories: Viagra
The target wasn’t diamonds, or expensive watches, or even bars of gold bullion – no, the target was Viagra, the little blue pill that fights back against erectile dysfunction. After a series of raids on pharmacies in Spain, Spanish police have reported that they have finally captured that most daring of criminals, the Viagra thief.
The man is accused of holding up 10 pharmacies in Madrid and police began investigating after they began receiving reports of the robberies in January.
Staff at the targeted pharmacies said that the man’s only object seemed to be to take boxes of the prescription-only medication and any cash that was on the premises. He would enter the pharmacy, wave a gun in the air and once the robbery was complete would leave on foot.
The police have said that they believe the man intended to sell the pills on the black market, where they are often used for recreational purposes. Black-market Viagra has become a hugely lucrative field for criminal gangs, who sell them both via the internet and through drug dealers.
The drug is only meant to be taken under a doctor’s supervision and when taken incorrectly or by people whose medical history contravenes them for it can cause dangerous side effects.
The suspected robber , who is 42, was arrested in Madrid and police say that he already has a criminal record. He has been handed over to judicial officials and a trial will be scheduled at a later date.
